We’ll be the first to admit, while we absolutely love winter weddings (see our recent blog post about them here!), we are not loving this finger-numbing, nose-running, hair-blowing weather. We’re lucky that our studio is a very short walk from our parking lot, but the cold just seems to seep through the cracks on days like these! As you can tell by our earlier Instagram post, we’re doing all we can to stay warm, but we wanted to share the love and thought what better way than with a blog post about our favorite (warm!) destination wedding getaway spots?! Don’t worry, you can thank us later.
Tucson, Arizona
How much warmer can you get than the desert?! Thankfully, this desert comes with beautiful landscapes, stunning sunsets, and bungalows perfect for a newlywed hideaway! The desert foliage (think: cactus, tumbleweeds, and low grasses) make a rustic, yet romantic background for an aztec inspired wedding.
Newport, Rhode Island
Okay, we promised warm and Rhode Island might not be the first place you think of for that, but we assure you, the weather up there is absolutely gorgeous in the summer! Not to mention, Newport, home to some pretty elite peeps, is an absolute gem tucked amongst rocky shorelines and bustling, picturesque, downtown scenes. Not only is the shopping top notch (which your out-of-town guests will love!), but the possibilities are endless when it comes to decor given that Newport exudes all things nautical!
Turks & Caicos
One of the most sought after wedding destinations, Turks & Caicos is on our top five because it’s beauty speaks for itself. Less populated than most other Caribbean hot spots, these string of islands feel more intimate and less commercialized, perfect for an elopement, if you ask us! The incredibly clear, blue waters make the perfect backdrop for a beach ceremony (oh and a great place for your guests to snorkel the reef while they’re visiting!)
Denver, Colorado
John Denver spoke the truth when he sang about the beautiful Rocky Mountains. While they are often covered in snow, the city is not one to miss. We love the idea of a wedding cast among the grand mountain range (okay, we’ll admit – in warm or cold weather!), and we are not one to scoff at the idea of a dude ranch wedding! With one of the most stunning backdrops in our country, Denver is the perfect spot for a wedding like no other!
Charleston, South Carolina
Last, but certainly not least, is the land of the Southern belle and charming gentleman. We are absolutely smitten with Charleston – with classic architecture, yummy food, and good people, it’s a wonderful location for our Southern brides (or those who just love their cowgirl boots!) While this is considered a destination wedding location for most, it can be used as a mini-getaway locale for a lot of our Virginia brides!
